Diné

(pronounced di-ney) is a word from the language of the Native peoples of North America. The Diné people use it to refer to themselves, rejecting the name given by the Spanish, “Navajo.”

The word means People or People of the Earth.

Diné simply means a human being — rooted, wandering, and coexisting. We believe that such — mindful, grounded, open to diversity — humanity is what the world needs.

Who are we?

The DINE Foundation was created out of the need to cultivate a culture rooted in wandering. It undertakes initiatives combining the humanities with adventure, erudition with experience, storytelling with activity. The goal of its actions is to create a space where paths intersect – of people, disciplines, and words.

It doesn’t interest me how you earn your living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if for love, for dreams, for the adventure of being alive, you will risk looking like a fool.
