Home/ The Source
The Source is a full-length dramatized documentary film about Jacek Pałkiewicz – one of the last great explorers, traveler, journalist, pioneer of survival in Europe, and author of over 30 books. A man who spent his whole life searching for empty spaces on the map.
Since early 2025, together with Jacek, we have been traveling through places symbolic to him. We talk with his close ones, see the world through the eyes of an explorer, and listen to incredible stories.
The footage is shot in places that shaped Jacek Pałkiewicz's life trajectory, including:
- Poland (Warsaw, Masuria)
- Italy (Bassano del Grappa, Milan)
- Peru / Brazil (expedition to the source of the Amazon)
- Morocco (survival training in the desert)
This is a film about memory and identity. A story about boundaries – those worth crossing and those worth protecting. About how to find the courage to go – in Jacek’s words – to hell and back.
We want to show where courage comes from and what makes a person go against the current, because we believe stories about passionate people inspire changing the world.
So far, we have accomplished, among others:
- collecting and digitizing archival materials,
- interviews with the protagonist and people from his surroundings,
- filming in Warsaw, Masuria, and Italy (Bassano del Grappa, Milan),
- conversations with figures such as Renzo Rosso (Diesel), Italian Ambassador to Poland Luca Franchetti Pardo, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Lech Wałęsa, Bronisław Komorowski.
We share the process live on Instagram @lukaszweigt.
